“Hopeful Lament” is an expressionist painting. It is a reflection of ‘what is,’ but also ‘what can be’ if we all work towards healing a fractured world in whatever ways we can.
Hopeful Lament is a deeply expressionist piece inspired by a tragic act of violence that I heard about on the news. This painting, though small in scale, carries a profound message—a global prayer for healing, justice, and reconciliation. Its abstract palette allows for universal interpretation, transcending national colors and speaking to a shared human yearning for peace.
It is the most intimate work in my Catch & Release gallery-journal, it stands as a testament to art’s role in acknowledging pain and imagining possibility.
“Hopeful Lament” is essentially, a prayer and a wish for reconciliation and healing to everyone, everywhere.
