“Belief”
This mixed media art piece began as a Saturday afternoon doodle, then evolved.
This piece progressed from a doodle into an art panel….
The design is reflective of symbols said to evoke good fortune, strength, loyalty, joy, and happiness- these attributes are sometimes associated with a rhinoceros hornbill bird- an abstract seen in this piece. This particular bird is regarded as an important symbol of courage and strength, and also eternal love and fidelity in some cultures in Malaysia and its surrounding islands.
An overall essence of nature is expressed in a woodsy-like and rustic presentation. The composition contains elements of asian lore. Bronze leaf is used throughout. In addition there are accents of batik fabric triangles; also some beading.
This piece is enclosed in a sturdy bronze frame. Bronze to represent strength. The entire piece is quite heavy, although it appears lightweight. The piece is recessed within the frame, and double matted, and presented under glass.
