This was an exercise of trying to portray faith, over fear, as a dominant mood to hold on to during the pandemic.
“Weeping Spring”- is an expression of mixed emotions- melancholic ones and hopeful ones all mixed together - yet ultimately, transformative ones- all felt during a very uncertain time in our world at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Throughout this piece is the Japanese character symbol for strength. These inscriptions may be difficult to see, but strength is often internal. It is important for me to note that this ‘catch and release’ painting was done on a piece of wood panel, the only thing available to me at the time during a lockdown period in my community.
