“Weeping Spring” is a raw, intuitive work that marked the start of my painting journey. The textured pinks and layered strokes are meant to evoke both vulnerability and vitality, reflecting the emotional turbulence of spring 2020. As a symbol of resilience through simplicity.
I hope that this piece sets the tone for my entire Catch & Release collection: making art from what’s available, and letting expression triumph over uncertainty.
This was an exercise of trying to portray faith, over fear, as a dominant mood to hold on to during the pandemic.
“Weeping Spring”- was composed using beach grass as a painting tool, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hidden within this composition is the Japanese character symbol for strength ( it resembles an upside down 4). It is represented 100 times.
